The government of the United States of America needs to take immediate action in the face of global warming to ensure that FEMA has correctly determined our country's flood zones and floodplains. However, such risk assessment cannot be used as an excuse to evict citizens from their houses by imposing burdensome insurance costs on them. Re-mapping and Re-zoning should be used as a tool to determine where to prevent re-building and development. It is not a tool that should rob people of their property. Therefore, we need comprehensive flood insurance change that keeps rates low - so that property retains its value and people are not taxed out of their homes.
