Social Security is the 3rd rail of politics, meaning if you touch it, your career is over. The Government believes that the funds will run out in less than 20 years, yet politicians refuse to act.
Liberals have blocked good ideas (raising the retirement age, changing the benefit formula), and Conservatives have blocked good ideas (Increase the limit on taxable earnings).
No one is willing to compromise, because no one will be in office when the system collapses.
We are calling on President Obama to set a 12/31/2014 deadline for Congress to extend the solvency of Social Security to the year 2100, or immediately stop collecting the tax, and finish paying out the remaining payments.
Congress will either comply, or they will forever be known as the Congress who killed Social Security.
