World War II paratrooper and U.S. Army Sgt William "Wild Bill" Guarnere passed away on March 8, 2014. He was 90 years old. He was a member of the "Band of Brothers", Easy Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He parachuted into Normandy knowing that his dear brother Henry had been killed in Italy. He lost his leg in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.
He endured the Great Depression as the youngest of 10 children In Philadelphia and fought bravely with the "Greatest Generation" ensuring the freedoms we love and hold dear today. He was a beautiful and great man.
I humbly ask the President of the United States to honor this hero by flying our beautiful flag half-staff for one day.
