Fly the rainbow flag at the Winter Olympics to show support for the LGBTQ community, and urge our allies to do the same.

Created by A.N. on August 09, 2013

With the recent changes in Russian law, members of the LGBTQ community there are suffering and having their rights taken away. This is unacceptable. That is why we urge the United States to fly the rainbow flag at the Olympics if and when our athletes win the gold, as a show of support for the LGBTQ community and human rights. We also request the President to urge like minded ally nations to do the same.

The Russian law, the goal of which is to stop 'gay propaganda' and the spread of 'nontraditional sexual relations', is to ambiguous to be effective, allowing for the arrest of gay couples seen holding hands or kissing in public, and prevents nongovernmental organizations from forming. Former Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov has also stated the laws are completely unconstitutional.
