As Herman Schwartz noted in an January 21, 2013 article in "The Nation," President Obama has filled fewer judicial seats than either President Clinton or President Bush. As a result, America's judicial system is facing a crisis, with 30 courts having too few judges to hear federal cases. This violates our right to due process, and it's the result of Republican obstructionist tactics. It's past time for our President to nominate qualified candidates, and for the U.S. Senate to fulfill its role to advise and consent to the President's appointees.
