A secured weapon is a safe weapon.
Instead of focusing on gun control, (an effort that criminal elements will not abide by anyway), the administration should focus on gun owner responsibility and accountability.
Instead of restricting ownership, passing laws holding owners accountable for their firearms security and use are much more appropriate measures. A gun owner who is held as an accomplice in any crime committed with their unsecure firearm is much more likely to secure it, and prevent it from unintended, illegal use.
Promoting a culture of responsibility and accountability is the only way to reduce gun violence. Criminals break laws, so passing more laws for them to break is a waste of time and national conversation.
