Rather than trying to impose further restrictions on guns and firearms, the Obama Administration should focus their efforts on the source of the problem: not the restrictions on guns, but rather the lack of available resources for individuals suffering from mental health disorders.
Many incidents such as the Sandy Hook or Colorado theater shootings involve individuals suspected to be suffering from mental health disorders. Mental health disorders are not well researched or understood in this country and the individuals suffering from them are often dismissed as "socially inept" and ignored. The American public needs to be better informed about these mental health disorders and there needs to be a reform to provide better care to individuals suffering from said disorders.
