I am requesting the Obama Administration include University of Maryland's "Language House" Program as part of comprehensive Education Reform nation-wide.
It has been a Dream to learn and include more than one language into who I am, and fluently. I love interacting with individual cultures and their people, but not having this learning example early on has hindered that goal. Education is wonderful, but there needs to be better changes implemented.
There are millions of native speakers in our country that can have a job by being who they are and teach their culture. They will also able to reinforce and guide creation in the learning materials to identify and correct historical mis-understandings.
The only barrier is perception!
