It is a problem that not all dates on food products can be read by the common consumer. Some food products come with a code known as Julian code and others have a variation of Julian code on their product. This presents a food safety issue, because if the food merchant or the consumer do not read the code correctly, it is possible that the product is expired.
I propose that all food product dates must be regulated to be in the MM/DD/YY format that way all people can read and understand the expiration dates and eliminate the risk of consuming an expired product.
