Food stamp benefits (EBT) should follow WIC guidelines to prevent misuse, abuse, and wasted money of federal funds.

EBT funds are used very poorly on items that are nonessential such as expensive meats, seafood to boil for get-togethers, non food items at certain stores, or being traded for actual cash. If EBT were to follow the rules of providing basic foods like bread, eggs, cheese, milk, and other essentials like the WIC program, there would be a dramatic difference in cost and use. The only difference is it should still be able to provide meats such as chicken, ground beef, and lunch meat. That would be significant enough to provide families with three meals a day but would significantly cut back on the abuse that the EBT system receives. EBT in 2014 cost $74 billion dollars compared to $6 billion from WIC. If EBT cost could be cut with more reasonable regulations the outcome would make an impact.
