Food stamps for senior citizens. Unfair rules, they need to be changed. We (Senior Citizens) are being cheated.

I am a USA citizen. Have worked all my life and paid TAXES. I receive an amount of food stamps that would not even buy healthy food. The rules are this: One has to meet what is called a "spend down" In order to receive more than the amount of $35.00 that I get, I have to have $285.00 in medical bills. If I had $285.00 I would not need food stamps.We cannot use bills for heat, telephone. gas, etc. Someone from the Agriculture department needs to go to the grocery store and see the actual prices of food. Not base the rules on 50 years ago.If I had a bunch of kids, no husband, I would get food stamps and a LOT of CASH to spend anyway I see fit. That;s fair??? The DOA also choose to take away our right to choose what kind of fruit ans vegetables we can select at the farmers market.
