Many incumbent monopoly telcos and cablecos are lobbying state legislators to sponsor legislation that would ban municipal broadband in order to protect their monopoly positions at the expense of potentially lower prices and higher quality for consumers. Manipulation of the political system to avoid competition is not in the interest of consumers and should not be allowed.
