If irremovable chips are placed in all current/future guns that are linked to irremovable chips in personal ID's, then we could equip law enforcment officials with tools to be alerted when the gun is beyond an acceptable distance from the personal ID. Make it so guns can be legally carried, but that they must be carried with ID at all times. If we have to carry our license when we drive, we should have to carry it when we are carrying a weapon. Put these "chips" in peoples homes as well so if the gun is removed from the home the same logic applies. This would not fix the problem with all illegally carried guns right now, but it would begin to fix the problem moving forward. Have current gun owners come in to have chip installed. This would be helpful in areas outside the home.
