Force Apple, Inc. to stop iPhone group text replies from replying to all recipients of original message

Created by C.L. on November 27, 2012

I petition that the federal government force Apple, Inc. to change the group text feature in iPhones and their iOS software to prevent replies to a group text from going to all recipients of the original message, who have no ability to opt-out.

Currently, when an iPhone user sends a text message to multiple recipients at once, any and all replies to the original message go to ALL recipients of the original message. Many times this results in people who do not wish to be involved in the conversation being bombarded with a large number of text messages in response to the original message, including from people they do not know. There is no way to opt-out and users either have to deal with the large amount of notifications or turn their phone off or on silent. This is unfair and harassing.
