The movie studios are replacing traditional reels of celluloid film with hard drives that are cheaper for them to ship and compatible with 3-D technology. This is forcing all movie theaters around our country to upgrade to digital projectors.
The equipment needed for digital upgrades can cost between $50,00-$100,000 per auditorium. Over 2,000 movie theaters around the country will most likely be forced to close down forever including more than half of the 400 drive in movie theaters left in America today. Many of these theaters are historic landmarks that have been around for decades.
Banks are now refusing to give loans to most of these businesses. Since our government has bailed out banks so many times the banks should be forced to help and save thousands of jobs.
