Congress quickly repealed the STOCK Act which would have forced members to post their financial transactions online. This act was intended to stop members of congress and their staff from profiting from stock trades by using insider information. Essentially, it stopped insider trading. Congress repealed the act right when the financial disclosures were to be posted for the first time. They said that the National Academy of Public Administration recommended that they not do it for security reasons but that isn't entirely true. There was no conclusive evidence that there was a real security danger. Insider trading in congress and among congressional staff can now continue. Congress needs to reinstate the STOCK Act requirements of posting their finances online.
