As someone who has lived at the poverty level in America, I know and understand that it is nearly impossible to try and make a living off of $7.25 an hour. With the cost of gas, food, and medicine constantly rising, an individual, whether single or married with kids, would have to work two jobs in order to be able to make ends meet; I feel that this is wrong. Why should corporations, and companies such as: Mcdonalds, Walmart, And Coca Cola, continue to turn huge profits, why their employees are forced to apply for government assistance? My hope in creating this petition is that President Obama will use his bully pulpit to pressure congress to increase the minimum wage, and that the increase, whenever approved, goes into effect immediately.
