Currently, members of Congress enjoy a multitude of perks that the average American citizen can never hope to see in his or her lifetime. Rather than proposing congress to take pay cuts, this petition suggests cutting these special perks. Healthcare costs for members of Congress shall be comparable to average citizens’. Lesser perks currently enjoyed at tax-payers’ expense, such as free parking at the office and DC area airports, free daycare, free meals, and limousine service should be immediately terminated. Vacation time (known as “recess”) for members of Congress should be limited an amount of time comparable to the average citizens’. Finally, Congress shall not have the power to vote on salary increases.
