Force Congress members to pay the rise in taxes as punishment if they fail to solve the Fiscal Cliff issue, not citizens

As a student attempting to further their higher education with a sibling doing the same, our parents in the middle class cannot afford the tax hikes that will result if the fiscal cliff issue is not resolved, nor will I or my sibling. I believe that members of congress make too much money for the little work they do, and should therefore be punished if they do not meet this deadline, like any regular middle class employee would be. Force Congress to pay the increases in taxes, all of them, after all this is their fault for not coming to an agreement after multiple months. We the people are innocent here, and cannot afford to cover the deficit that Congress has created. It's time they started paying out of their pockets for their mistakes instead of us.
