The Controlled Substances Act, signed by Richard Nixon in 1970, legislated that the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) should assign which substances should be added or assigned to schedules within the Act.
While the DEA and FDA have assigned many natural and synthetic substances, they have not assigned Alcohol or Tobacco to any schedule. Such willful neglect of its duties under the CSA act have allowed states and individuals to freely use Tobacco and Alcohol without any supervision of the federal government.
This petition is a request to force the DEA and FDA to add Alcohol and Tobacco as substances under the CSA Act, so that they are not unfairly overlooked by the Federal Government. Further, the DEA should be forced to assign Schedules to the drugs.
