To force the FCC to redefine what broadband internet is and upgrade the national internet infrastructure

I am writing this petition because the internet quality in the United States is underdeveloped The United States has fallen to 16th in the world in internet quality. Not only does quality internet help consumers but it also helps the economy and businesses. It allows for the information to be exchanged quicker than already possible which leads to better competition. It is my understanding that the United States has given businesses subsidies to aid in the distribution of fiber optic cables for increased internet speeds but because of the FCC's ridiculous definition of broadband (being 200 kbps) the service providers have been able to pocket the money. I write this in hopes that some people will realize the importance of quality internet in today's world and this will bring about change.
