The United States is indeed a nation of immigrants, however those immigrants of the past would enter through LEGAL means, and many continue to do so today.
If the federal government grants amnesty through it's "immigration reform bill", then it's only fair that all fees, including travel expenses when forced to do so, be reimbursed to LEGAL immigrants who have followed the process, paid for immunizations, etc. Granting amnesty to ILLEGAL ALIENS is a slap in the face to all who have come to the United States LEGALLY!
