Just last year, 2.7 million HEALTHY adoptable dogs and cats were euthanized. There are more animals than there are homes to put them in, the only way to control that, other than killing those innocent animals, is to force it by law. Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100 percent effective method to keep this number down.
Each day, an estimated of 70,000 pets are born. Millions of those pets enter animal shelters every year, more than half of those pets are euthanized because shelters become overcrowded and pets cannot be placed into homes. Passing this law would give millions of animals a second chance.
All of those who want to continue breeding and selling animals should purchase a breeder’s license, any who refuse to spay/neuter should be penalized with fines/community service.
