We the People must make it a priority that the "humans" that decide the future of the United States of America and the "the free world", are competent, smart, open-minded and unselfish enough to create laws, budgets, etc.
There are entrance exams to all relevant institutions, why not make sure that We the People have the best and brightest legislators we deserve.
