Force the Nuclear Industry to purchase its own liability insurance and pay for its own waste storage.

Created by D.J. on November 04, 2011

The nuclear industry is receiving huge taxpayer subsidies to cover its accident liability and the perpetual (million year) storage of high level wastes.

Nuclear power is a clear and present danger to this and future generations. There are now 70,000 tons of extremely radioactive used reactor fuel stored all over the country. It must be constantly cooled by electric pumps and is not under any hard containment. A power failure or earthquake could result in huge radiation releases, larger then Fukushima.

There is no long term waste storage site available - Yucca Mountain cost us $15 billion, then was abandoned as unsafe due to faults.

Most of our reactors are now 40+ years old. New ones would cost more than coal, wind or solar.

Ending all subsidies would end the nuclear industry.
