I lived in a home labeled as for the disabled, as I am disabled, with FULL MOBILITY. There were 24 apts. in the home, which was contained in a single building. The Catholic Diocese of Lafayette, La. owned the home, under money HUD gave them, and HUD subsidized the residents, under their Section 811, which is for the disabled. The home opened in 1999, more than 1/2 the windows in the apartments, were too heavy, for residents to lift, in case of needing to escape a fire. The fire extinguisher, is located 18" from a corner burner on the stove, so can't be used with a stove fire. Each apt. has 2 smoke detectors, yet they get removed for repair, and never replaced. There were 5 residents, who were in wheelchairs, but could not bathe, because of mobility. No one cares, about people disabled here
