There should really be more of an effort to ensure police are educated about the law. For example, police are often unlawfully arresting people for made up things like disobeying orders to stop taking photos. This is a waste of public resources and creates much undue distress and grief for citizens.
Police used to be peace officers, and their jobs was to protect and serve and uphold the peace. Now they've taken the role of "law enforcers", but it doesn't work very well when so many cops lack an understanding of the law and also believe they are above the law.
Funny how we hold teachers so highly accountable that we regularly test them to ensure they are qualified to teach. How about if we have regular law exams for police officers to ensure they are qualified to enforce the law
