The Social Security Administration needs to be forced to change their policy on only making one payee for a child's disability benefits. Currently, the SSA only makes one payee and disregards the other parents or guardians of the child. This not only discriminates against the child's other parent or guardian, but causes a lack of benefit support for the child while in the other parent's or guardian's custody. The child's disability benefits should be divided among the parents or guardians of a child according to the amount of time throughout the year that each parent or guardian has the child. This ensures that the child's disability benefits are being used for their intended purpose and the child's everyday current needs are being met when in the custody of each parent or guardian.
