Force soft beverage companies such as Pepsi and Coca-Cola, to limit the calorie content of their products in the US.

Created by A.S. on January 29, 2014

Companies that produce soft drinks like fruit juices and especially soda's, typically sell these products overseas also. Many places in Europe one can buy a can of coke, Sprite or Pepsi etc, and it will have a lot less calories, sometimes even less sugar and still retain a great taste. So why is this? The biggest reason is typically down to the US using high fructose (higher calorie) corn syrup whereas other countries typically use sugar. These companies do make alternative 'zero' calorie drinks but lets face it, they are not as popular as the calorie included varieties. The Obama Admin did push for an excise tax on sweetened beverages but this fell through as a result of heavy lobbying from beverage companies.
