The Supreme Court recently declined to hear the case against the EPA's approval of ethanol blended into gasoline at concentrations greater than 10%. This fuel, E85, is harmful to engines, has less potential energy and thus poor gas mileage, and is harmful to the environment.
Most automotive manufacturers specifically prohibit the use of concentrations of ethanol >10%. Engine damage will result from prolonged usage.
Ethanol is an energy-negative fuel - more petroleum is used in its growth and refinement than the energy it produces.
Wider use of ethanol in fuels will cause increased food prices. In fact, it already has.
I ask the administration to challenge the EPA and not bow down to the lobbyists and special interest groups that have pushed this deleterious fuel onto the US consumer.
