UnitedHealthCare (UNC)/OptumRX should not be allowed to exclude any medication from coverage that any doctor has deemed medically necessary for their patient.
Due to the recent Reform, many insurance companies have restructured their prescription coverage. UNC should not be allowed to determine what prescriptions a patient takes or the dosage of the prescription - this should be solely left to the physician's discretion.
Many times, the "alternate" prescription options that UNC/OptumRX covers, are not options that are equivalent to the initial prescribed medication. UNC/OptumRX do not have the patient's best interest in mind and should not be allowed to control these decisions.
