Force USFK to Hire DOD Veterans as DOD contractors regardless of how long they have been living in S. Korea

Created by C.L. on April 21, 2014

This is a petition to demand that US military retirees living in S. Korea be eligible for employment as DOD contractors by United States Forces Korea (USFK), regardless of how long they have lived in S. Korea and regardless of visa status.
Up until 2008, USFK regularly hired DOD retirees who were already living in S. Korea. In 2008, they “reinterpreted” USFK Reg. 700-19 and decided they should not have hired DOD retirees who were “ordinarily resident” in S. Korea. More than 200 veterans lost their jobs.
USFK’s decision is a blatant betrayal of all DOD veterans.
The bar girl I bought drinks for years ago is now a US dependent spouse and entitled to a SOFA status job on base. I served 20 years in the USAF, but I am not. Where is the fairness in that?
