As the internet becomes further entwined in everyday life the United States government should be putting preemptive measures in place to protect US citizens from unwitting abuse due to legal jargon on terms and conditions/privacy pages.
Every time you access the internet it should not be necessary to have a lawyer sitting next to you. Websites should all have to place their terms and conditions in simple terms that a 13 year old can understand. It should not take the form of rhetoric that makes you seem at ease, but in reality allows the site to sell your personal information at their will.
These legally binding agreements should be absolutely transparent, if a site has the ability to sell your information it should be obvious, and when they do YOU SHOULD EXPLICITLY BE TOLD.
