The FLSA needs to be amended to protect workers against excessive work hours and mandatory overtime. Employees should have the legal right to refuse overtime after having worked a certain number of hours – without fear of job loss or other disciplinary actions. Employee should be asked to work beyond their work schedule only during exceptional circumstances and an advance notice should be given. We need to change this law and preserve the right of workers to work long hours if they choose to do so, but ensure workers the right to refuse mandatory overtime. At this time there are neither rules nor regulations nationwide for employers to force employees to work overtime. Employers can legally, without any notice, enforce overtime to their employees and employers also have the legal right to
