The current role of money in politics is corrosive to our democracy. It undermines citizens' faith in the political process, wastes the time of and creates bad incentives for our elected officials, and favors the interests of the powerful over the many. Because of recent Supreme Court rulings existing campaign finance protections have been nullified or weakened to the point of failure. There is broad support for campaign finance reform from the American people. A constitutional amendment would allow our legislators to pursue our interests and take action in this fundamentally important area.
