Forfeit all bonuses to employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs involved in claims processing and fix the backlog

Created by M.S. on June 30, 2013

The backlog of claims for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs is unacceptable. While the VA has received every budget increase requested to help decrease the backlog of claims, the time required to process claims and the backlog of claims has increased Our veterans deserve an honest effort by our government to process and consider claims in a timely manner. The backlog for claims increased by almost 300,000 in 2011, while the two top deputies of VA Undersecretary for Benefits each received $23,091 in bonuses. Many disabled veterans are struggling to feed their children while those in charge of claims processing make six-figure salaries. We request a renewed effort by the White House to address this issue and make those in charge of claims at the VA accountable.
