Forgive up to 50% of old student loan after 10 years; with or without payments only if the debtor has been making payments (in good faith) or is in a forebearance and/or deferrment status and not in default. Another 25% should be forgiven in the next 10 years if on time payments have been made and a qualified degree (undergrad or graduate) has been achieved in a public service, public administration, public policy, engineering, science, math, or related fields to be addressed at a later time. Special emphasis should be given to those whom choose to teach such subjects in an at-risk community or school; public or private, peace corp, or other qualified educational center, either domestically or internationally. A committment must be made for five years total teaching (one or multiple).
