Student debt is at an all time high of $1.2 trillion, with an average of about $30,000 per student. The cost of tuition is rising, but job prospects have barely increased. Many graduates are underemployed, in jobs for which they are overqualified. The cost of living is rising quickly and the wages of college graduates are barely increasing. The purpose of college is to improve your life by increasing job opportunities. However after loan payments are deducted, many students barely make more than they would without a college education. Student loan debt is a burden on society and needs to be dealt with. The real cost of college education is not dissimilar to indentured servitude. This trend will only get worse. Forgive all federal student debt and regulate tuition costs for future students.
