Over the past several years, post-graduate income has declined, while average student debt has skyrocketed. Unemployment amongst recent graduates is the highest out of any demographic group in the country, and more and more of us are being forced into deferment, and even default. The system that we have to pay for college and university is unsustainable, and only spells doom for an entire generation of individuals that could otherwise be contributing to the economy. Because of this system, we cannot buy houses. We cannot buy cars. Many of us cannot hope to get married and support families of our own. This system must be changed, and that must start with a debt forgiveness program.
