Overpayment and requirement to repay is common in the military. The situation with the California National Gaurd is a special instance when servicemembers were blindsighted by debts they had no idea they had incurred and after an unreasonable amount of time. We must show the men and women willing to put the good of their State and Nation above their own personal safety that we will do right by them. Forgive these debts as a promise that America will honor those most crucial in our preservation.
