There are a number of people in student loan repayment who were unable to pay them and went into default. Their circumstances improved and they were able to rehabilitate their loans and are now up to date and current. The fees associated in the default process are staggering and further compound the student loan burden that a lot of citizens find themselves under. I propose that the default related fees and interest related to these fees be forgiven and removed from the borrower's record. This would give some relief to those who are trying to meet their student loan obligations. The constraint would be that the borrower had completed their rehabilitation and had been current for one year before this adjustment is completed.
