Forgive First-Time Homebuyer Credit & refund payments made-resolve the unfair rules between '08 buyers & '09- '10 buyers

Created by B.S. on February 12, 2013

In 2008, the First-Time Homebuyer's credit functioned as an interest-free loan for homebuyers - a good option for new home owners. However, in 2009-2010, the credit changed to allow First-Time Homebuyers to receive the credit with no responsibility to repay unless they sold, lost, or otherwise converted the home from a residence. Homebuyers in 2008 are still responsible to pay back all of the original credit, but 2009-2010 buyers are not.

I am asking the administration to consider forgiving, refunding, or otherwise resolving the unfair imbalance between these two credits. Homebuyers of 2008 should not be held to any more responsibility of paying back the credit than the 2009-2010 buyers.
