Forgive the repayment of the First time homebuyer Credit in CA to home owners who purchased homes in 2008 & prior.

Created by L.F. on January 03, 2014

I purchased my home in June 2008. They were offering the first time homebuyers credit to homeowners who purchased their home in June 2008 and prior. This was an interest free loan given to homeowners and allowed for repayment over the following 15 years and would be deducted out of your taxes when you file your taxes each year. I am repaying $500 each year to pay this loan off. Shortly after I purchased my home, within a month or so, they changed the guidelines that the homebuyers did not have to repay the credit. So for myself and many others who missed this deadline by less than a month we have to repay this $7500, and other homebuyers who purchased a home shortly after does not have to repay this loan. I am seeking out equality and fairness to all of the homeowners in my position.
