To forgive student loan debt after 5 years of repayment and radically reform borrowing standards to students.

Created by M.H. on January 23, 2013

We must learn from our recent history to prevent our economic collapse or further our current economic depression. We collectively sat by as a country and let subprime mortgage loans destroy American families and our economy. As we are slowly recovering a new and perhaps more daunting issue is looming in the land of the free, student loan debt.

With over 1 trillion in current outstanding student loan debt and a near double digit default rate the problem has escalated from a controversy to a crisis.

Therefore I petition the U.S. Government to pass a bill relieving student loan holders of their current debt after a five (5) year period and restructure the borrowing rules allowing bankruptcy protection, as well as maxing federal loans to 3,000.00 a year to prevent arbitrary tuition hikes
