If we want effective teachers, the incentive of loan forgiveness will have those with advanced degrees jumping at the opportunity to teach in high schools. For someone with $50,000 in student loans, 5 years working at a public school is in essence a $10,000 per year increase in their salary.
If they can receive better offers, they'll still work at other organizations, but at the very least these individuals will have an incentive to bring MORE educated teachers into our school systems which have slowly fallen further and further behind.
This would bring in teachers who have experience with what a university expects of their students and isn't afraid to fail a student when it is deserved. The arbitrary lowering of curriculum standards to meet the lowest denominator is crippling America
