Repayment of student loans can be taxing on military and veteran families. While there are some programs that allow for lower monthly payments, interest still accrues and the repayment period increases. Student loans should be forgiven for those who willing enlisted in the armed forces to protect our nation. Although some of the services do offer "loan repayment" upon enlistment, the amount of the repayment often does not make a dent in the loan. Student loans should also be forgiven for veterans, especially those recieving any type of disability compensation. Forgiving student loans for active military and veterans would mean putting more money back into the economy. The money that would have been used to repay the loan, would now be spent on goods and services.
