While providing free community college may increase our level of education it fails to address the overwhelming amount or existing student loan debt. A significant number of college graduates are dealing with crippling student loan debt, and payments are often more than a mortgage. While the job market may finally be improving, wages remain stagnate, further increasing the problem. These graduates are not only in a position to be rewarded for completing a degree, they also can provide a boost to the economy. Forgiveness or assistance will increase disposable income and thereby increase consumer spending. We should reward those who have already achieved without needing incentives.
