A commission should be formed of independent scientists and intellectuals to investigate what multiple factors have contributed to the increase of mass killings in America over the last 50 years. This panel should include criminologists, mental health care experts, media and entertainment historians, human behavior specialists, anthropologists, etc.
As a result of this independent investigation, the same panel should identify steps we all can take through governmental regulations, entertainment and media self-censorship, or personal actions that can assist us in reducing the number of mass killings in our society.
One issue, gun control, has not brought us to this place and time. We must examine all the potential root causes and take appropriate steps to correct them.
