Form a truth & reconciliation commission

Created by M.S. on December 03, 2014

For many Americans, race and racism are mere words without any historical context. The multigenerational disenfranchisement of African Americans, Native Americans, and other segments of our society is poorly understood, if at all, by too many of our citizens. To truly move beyond the quagmire of centuries of racial animosity and injustice, to move beyond the opposing views of oversimplified racial thinking, and to move beyond the present day where justice is inadequate - it is proposed that a truth and reconciliation commission be formed, so that we may heal and form a more perfect union and embody the motto of 'e pluribus unum'. A shared collective consciousness about the past will help us to make sense of the present and to form a united future.
