Formally acknowledge the genocide of the Native American

Created by S.J. on October 09, 2011

Genocide is defined as the "deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group." There is enough historical evidence on public record to support the claim of the the systematic destruction of the Native American people by military lead campaigns, breaches in treaties, assassinations of leaders, massacres of entire villages including women and children, starvation and degradation. Yet the Native Amercian story remains white-washed in our educational system and conspicuously absent from the collective civil rights memory of this nation. It is about time we formally acknowledge it, and teach it in our schools as an intrinsic part of American History.
